Mesh Mashup: Refinement

Image
For this week we chose 1 out of our past 10 objects and refined it. Thanks to feedback from classmates, I decided to go with my little duck police officer. Feedback from peers gave me a whole new concept idea for the work, and helped me fix some details. Most feedback was that the pig snout was somewhat unclear and was hard to recognize what it was. So I tried to alter how the objects were arranged together.  ADAB was refined into a much larger scene to represent police brutality in a slightly more digestible way. I added multiple duck characters to this scene, with out main protestor who stands in a face off with a wall of police ducks. Most of my feedback was on clarity and to make sure that my message would get across well, so I tried to make sure that even small details were noticeable. I also wanted the style of the piece to seem somewhat cartoon like, so with my colouring I used very bright colours and added high contrast highlight and shading. So for my take of remix culture I

Mesh Mashup: Concept Generation

This assignment was really fun for me as it was an easy way to create all these weird ideas I had in my head. For a lot of these mashups I wanted them to be kind of funny or a mix of things that you wouldn't really expect.  When I immediately think of remix, my thoughts go towards music, so I wanted to make mashups in a similar way to how music does it, by pulling from content that we already know and are pretty familiar with. So, just by looking at the remixes we can make up our own story and meaning behind it. 1. keyboard garden For my first concept I thought of how nature will always return and grow back once humans leave the area they inhabit. I wanted to represent the mass productions of products and how in most of them will end up in the garbage or in the dirt, and how nature will always overcome these obstacles and grow around it. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:255980/files https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2782116/files https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2461569/files htt

Objectified Assignment

The object I decided to recreate from Objectified (2009), was a simplistic cd player by  Naoto Fukasawa . I've never done any 3d modelling before and before choosing the cd player I attempted to do a flask with an intricate carving on the front, obviously that one didn't work out too well for me. I went with this design for the cd player as lately I have seen lots of people buying this and felt that it fit the narrative being told in the documentary about how objects are designed to function better with less parts. Also how minimalistic designs come back in style, sell well and are easy to make for mass production. My model isn't perfect, and I struggled with properly centering everything, but for my first finished project I'm pretty satisfied.
