Mesh Mashup: Concept Generation

This assignment was really fun for me as it was an easy way to create all these weird ideas I had in my head. For a lot of these mashups I wanted them to be kind of funny or a mix of things that you wouldn't really expect. 

When I immediately think of remix, my thoughts go towards music, so I wanted to make mashups in a similar way to how music does it, by pulling from content that we already know and are pretty familiar with. So, just by looking at the remixes we can make up our own story and meaning behind it.

1. keyboard garden

For my first concept I thought of how nature will always return and grow back once humans leave the area they inhabit. I wanted to represent the mass productions of products and how in most of them will end up in the garbage or in the dirt, and how nature will always overcome these obstacles and grow around it.

2. videogames in real life

This second object is a mix of many movies about videogames coming out of the game, or people being sucked in.

3. got milk?

I wanted to make a lamp but have it be just the most unconventional design, and to make sure that there was no lamp shade so that you are blinded by the milk. The shape and colours used also reminded me of an egg, so its a lamp to only be used around breakfast time.

4. free willy

For this mashup I tried to depict a little story of two fish who somehow find themselves trapped in a washing machine, and one fish sacrifices themselves so that the other can escape. Start crossed lovers perhaps.

5. all "seaing" eye

Originally for this, I wanted to use cymbals as the eyes eyelids, but was unable to find one that satisfied me. So, I made this ugly little clam shell for the veiny eye void of all life, and it knows all your secrets.

This remix is in my mind  as sort of an allergic reaction to chess, as I still don't know how to play, nor do I plan to learn anytime soon.

7. easter egg island

I decided to make a cute little island for some spices to relax on, built inside an egg holder. I chose to combine these as I have an interest in miniature models and I think this would be a nice addition to someone's collection.

I made this rubber ducky into a good old fashioned cop, mainly because I thought it would be funny to actually own a duck with a pig nose and police uniform.

9. juice cleanse

This mashup is my interpretation of a juicer. Mine probably isn't the cleanest method, but it might be the most effective.

10. out of order

For my final object I had the story of some bad guy or anit-hero having a moment of rest and simply wanting some bubblegum, only for the machine to be empty, thus causing them to unleash unbridled rage upon this insanely durable gumball machine.
